Principal's Welcome

Welcome to SSIA&D.

I like to think of a student's educational career as a personal narrative that remains to be written. Each student arrives with their own unique background, talent, and ambitions, and at SSIA&D, we find it our privilege to help them write it, chapter by chapter, into an interesting narrative of growth, exploration, and eventual success.

Just as a well-written story captivates its readers, a well-rounded education empowers students to engage with the world in a meaningful way. We at SSIA&D think that the ideal mode of learning is through inquiry: question, pursue ideas, and find a genuine passion for knowledge. Our US-based curriculum, complemented by a Korean sense of commitment and success, offers a good foundation for academic success. For students seeking a transition from the Korean school system, we also offer a special learning stream designed to further English proficiency, resulting in a seamless and successful integration into our program.

This kind of emphasis on individual development infuses every facet of the SSIA&D experience. Our conviction regarding the value of one-to-one care mandates that every student receive the attention and instruction he or she needs to flourish. We understand that the college application process is a significant page in this unfolding saga, and our experienced college counselors work with each student on a one-on-one basis, helping them to distill their strengths, articulate their aspirations, and craft compelling applications that authentically convey their personal narrative. This individualized attention is one of the primary reasons SSIA&D students have excellent results, gaining admission to top universities worldwide.

As a long-time resident of and worker in Korea, I've had the opportunity to witness firsthand the boundless potential that Korean students possess. At SSIA&D, we're striving to unlock that potential by not only fostering intellectual development but character development as well. We believe that a truly successful individual is not just academically successful but is also a person of strong character, tenacity, and a commitment to giving back. Our after-school programs, from our award-winning film project and student-led school magazine to the World Scholars Cup and special athletic programs like fencing, enable students to follow interests, develop leadership skills, and discover their unique voices. We also promote community involvement through different volunteer programs, which instill a sense of social responsibility and global citizenship in our students.

We prepare our students not only for college, but for life. We help them write their own stories, stories of achievement, resilience, and purpose. Please visit our website, and let us learn how we can support your child in writing the next chapter in their story.

Sincerely,
Paul Battle
